Caroline Collective is very excited to announce a partnership with SugarHill Recording Studios. They will begin a satellite residency at on Tuesday, July 8th, from 2-6 p.m. During that time, SugarHill president Dan Workman and crew will take a field trip to the facility. Except for the recording sessions previously booked for the day, SugarHill Studios will be operated completely from the coworking space at Caroline.
SugarHill Recording Studios is the oldest continuously operating facility in the Southwest United States; Blues legend Lightnin’ Hopkins first recorded at SugarHill in 1948. The Rolling Stones, Johnny Winters, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Johnny Rodriguez, B.J. Thomas, Ted Nugent, Johnny “Rabbit” Bundrick (Keyboard player for The Who), Todd Rundgren, The Bubble Puppy, Selena, Janis Joplin, Roy Head, Arnett Cobb, Christopher Cross, Red Krayola, 13th Floor Elevators and Asleep at the Wheel are just a few names out of the SugarHill history book.
In speaking about the partnership between SugarHill and the Caroline Collective, Dan Workman said, “We want to express our unity with the collective’s mission: to combine technology, creativity, and artistic expression. The co-workspace is a direct extension of the environment in which we work every day. Setting up shop at Caroline is an exciting opportunity to support like-minded people who are equally passionate about their work.”
It should also be noted that Workman said that editing and mixing from the SugarHill Desk at Caroline will be, “incredibly cool!”
The July 8th co-working day initiates an active relationship between SugarHill and the Caroline Collective. SugarHill’s support will be commemorated with a permanent studio-sponsored desk for use by the general community at Caroline. Future collaborations between SugarHill and the Caroline Collective will include music and art related events, and eventually, a live entertainment stage.
The public is invited to drop by on Tuesday to visit the facility, and visit with Dan Workman while he co-works at The SugarHill Desk at the Caroline Collective.
