We’re Almost A Year Old, It’s Time For a Membership Drive

As the anniversary of Caroline Collective’s opening looms we have begun reflecting upon the past year. As we review Caroline’s presence and role in Houston’s creative community, we realize there are a number of achieved goals and learned lessons that got us to this point. In the effort to continue our trend of transparency and openness to the Houston community, we’d like to share those goals and lessons with the people who have helped to make Caroline Collective a success. For the next month, we’ll be doing a post-a-day about what we’ve learned over the course of the year. Some of these posts will be Caroline Collective specific, some will be community related and some discussion of goals and lessons will work for any business.
One of the biggest goals that we set for ourselves when opening the coworking space was to break even financially by the one year mark (so far, Caroline’s relied on personal contributions from her owners to continue operation). We are very close to that break-even goal but we’re not there yet. Our finances have always been on an upward trend but we need more help from the community. We need to see more people using Caroline Collective regularly as their home base or their work solution. More people investing in working alongside their community instead of in isolation.
We’re not afraid to ask for help and this is our first official call to action / membership drive. If you’ve benefited from Caroline Collective over the past year or use our facilities or plan to use our facilities, please consider becoming a member as a demonstration of commitment to Houston community or to keep Caroline Collective running. You could become a light member for as low as $50/month, get a dedicated desk for your office, rent an office or you could just donate to Caroline Collective. There’s no minimum or maximum but we are firmly committed to breaking even after one year and we are asking for your help to do this. We’re looking for a firmer commitment from the community to use a facility that we all spend a great deal of time making work for you.
We run Caroline Collective for no other reason than the fact that we believe in the Houston community and wish to see it succeed. If you’re interested in becoming a member of Caroline Collective, please check our website at http://carolinecollective.cc/membership for pricing and then shoot us an email to carolinecollective@gmail.com.
We hope that you enjoy recapping the past year with us and celebrating one year at the June 6th anniversary party.

CC is the digital campfire around which we all huddle. I’m happy to lend my support.
