We’ll closed to the general public the week of December 26th-30th for the holidays. We’ll be back January 2nd for a new year of coworking!

Caroline Collective will be closed to the general public on Thursday, November 24th and the following Friday for Thanksgiving.

Caroline Collective now hosts monthly Jellies!

Jellies are casual coworking events where people come together to work for the day. We provide chairs, wireless internet, and interesting people to talk to, collaborate with, and bounce ideas off of.

On the second Friday of every month we’ll waive the drop-in fee for coworking, so bring a friend or come by and make a few! A little change in scenery and socialization might be just the cure for your home-office blues, or perhaps it’s the catalyst in your next creative breakthrough. You’ll have to see it to find out.

Towards the end of the day things will slowly shift into the weekly office happy hour!

We’ll have food and drinks, plenty of space, plenty of great people to meet, and a great technique to learn about that’s as useful to designers as it is to developers and entrepreneurs.

The way it works

First, we’ll have some milling and mixing about over food and drinks. Then we’ll have a short 20-30 minute presentation on how to give and receiving objective, constructive design critiques.

Then, everyone with software who desired feedback will pull out sketches or mockups or prototypes or working code. Designers will then rotate around the room offering
constructive critiques on how to improve usability or engagement, etc.

The agenda

7:00 – Food, drinks & meet-n-greets
7:30 – Presentation: Design critiques
8:00 – Activity: App grounding (identify objectives for the screens they want critiqued
8:15 – Activity: Critiques (designers rotate critiquing screens)
10:00 – END

What to bring

If you have an interface you’d like critiqued, bring sketches, mockups, screenshots, prototypes, or working code of the screens you would like feedback on.

Everyone should bring business cards.

The Montrose Art Society will be exhibiting the work of its five newest members at Caroline Collective! The exhibition will be a grab-bag of 2 dimensional art ranging from oils to ink to digital media. Though each artist possesses a unique voice, the collective effect is a dialogue of human experience.

About the Montrose Art Society:
The Montrose Art Society is a group of predominantly visual artists living in Houston Texas. The group takes a collective approach to building the individual careers of its members by engaging the Houston community through visual arts.

The MAS exhibits frequently and actively, with each exhibition planned as a group show featuring a specific member. Members of the MAS actively promote the arts in Houston at varying levels: through workshops, classes, volunteering, and curating.

“My art is the home where my memories and inspirations meet with my abilities for conversation. There, my culture and believes layer my nostalgia as gossamer-thin tracings; I visually connect these intangibles to the passions and relationships of my daily life. Lauren Luna
Art is the vessel by which Lauren Luna uses to breathe life into her creativity embodied with her perception. Inspired collections reveal a speaking artist through means of colorful verbage, to modestly announce how art is an intricate factor in her life. Lauren Luna’s paintings are layered with emotions, allowing her to speak visually her life journey on canvas.

Tina McPherson
Houston-based multi-media artist, Tina McPherson has a passion for awareness and self-exploration projects. She examines the notion that life is a highly complicated mystery that humans must understand with rational thought and intelligence. Through her art, photography and design, her goal is to explore, engage and spark dialogue in order to help one discover and achieve this understanding.

Adam Romero
“My current work focuses on capturing human emotion. Emotion is very powerful; it touches every single person around the world and we identify with it. It binds us together as well as tears us apart.”
