Ned has been behind the wheel at Caroline Collective from day one. Since the summer of 2008 Ned has been actively participating in or down-right overseeing all aspects of the daily and long-term operations of Caroline Collective. As the longest running founding member of Caroline Collective Ned has seen the business grow, change and develop into the space it is today.
Though you might know of him as the guy behind Caroline Collective, Ned has equally important interests in Architecture and Design. Ned received a B.A. in Art History from Carleton College in 2003 and an M.Arch from Rice University in 2009. While at Rice, Ned devoted his graduate career to studying ecological design strategies and management with an eye towards the built environment.
His Architectural Design work has been published in Architectural Design Magazine, Brkt Magazine, the Columbia University GSAP yearly student review, as well as Rice: Working 06-08, and All things Must Move. He has written for The Architectural League in New York, Manifold Magazine, and the Houstonist and maintains a well-respected blog AnimalArchitecture.org. His built work has been shown in Minnesota and Houston.
Ned has been awarded both the Technos international traveling fellowship in 2002 and the Mitchel Travel Fellowship in 2006 and an RDA Houston Initiative Grant in 2010. He has studied in New York, Paris, Tokyo and Shanghai and is currently employed as a Designer at PDR in Houston, Texas.
Geoff Smith started as an arts intern after receiving a B.A. in Art History from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2010, and manages all day-to-day affairs at Caroline Collective, as well as coordinating events and exhibitions for the Collective.
Outside of Caroline Collective, Geoff serves as an Artist Advisory Board member at Spacetaker, a producer in the Caroline Sessions, and a writer for Arts+Culture Magazine. He loves printmaking.
